Basics
Topical combination therapies are part of the new wave of effective acne therapies. The combination therapies join together a topical antibiotic along with benzoyl peroxide.

How they work
The combination therapies take the mechanisms of action of the topical antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide and allow them to work together. In doing so, there is actually a greater effect than using each of the medication separately.

Types of comination therapies
Combination therapies include Benzaclin gel, Duac gel, and Benzacmycin gel.

Potential side effects
The side effects include those seen in the separate ingredients (topical antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide)
